A large fire occurred on February 18, 2025, at a pallet factory located on the side of the Matehuala and Valentín Amador Highway in San Luis Potosí. Images shared on social media showed tall flames and a dense column of smoke caused by the burning wood in the factory.
According to Civil Protection of San Luis Potosí, the fire has not yet been controlled, and they are collaborating with the police to clear the roadway. The lanes of the Matehuala and Valentín Amador Highway remain closed, and the column of black smoke is visible from various points in the city.
So far, there have been no reports of fatalities or injuries due to the fire. However, three nearby schools have been evacuated along with a considerable number of people as a precautionary measure against the imminent risk caused by the flames and the presence of gas tanks that exploded inside the factory, intensifying the fire.
Highly flammable materials like wood contributed to the rapid spread of the flames in the pallet factory, generating intense activity from emergency crews and firefighters. Authorities have activated a security device in the area and continue to work to control the situation.
